Abstract

This work studies the effect of damping on the structure of time-optimal control profiles. The variation of the control profile structure of time-optimal control for a damped floating oscillator from a 3-switch to a 5-switch and finally to a 3-switch structure is illustrated. A technique is proposed to determine the value of the damping ratio corresponding to the transition of the control profile from the 3-switch to the 5-switch and finally to the 3-switch structure.
